This untitled project marks the beginning of my transition into narrative. I photographed figures from thrift store paintings and found photos that I imagined as characters inhabiting the landscape photographs I was making at the time. The expressions of the characters seem to inform the images of patterns, detritus and handicraft when grouped together. The bundle of references to private space and domesticity, forest ghosts and haunted houses developed into unspecific narratives that circled around notions of psychosexual drama. There wasn’t a precisely defined narrative, rather the grouping of images came together loosely, mapping their territory while leaving interpretation open to the audience.
