This installation used the text of a novel I wrote that looked to Lee Malvo and John Muhammad, The Baltimore Snipers, as inspiration for my version of the classic gay love story. Two men feel such a deep mutual affection that they feel an equally deep physical need to admit their most secret desires. The novel also looks at the medium of photography as the psychological space of the outsider.
The installation involved a different presentation for each of the novel’s chapters, and a different type of photographic imagery for each chapter as well. This is the first project for which I began scratching images into pictures. The very first one was a text that read, “The dream wasn’t about flight, just prolonged descent.”
